A. Tell me about your Glass work Beads wholesale pricing?

Wholesale-Retail and Our Tale!

WHOLESALE:

Lets talk pricing mechanisms and the Fire Goddess philosophy. Wholesale, in its purest form, should reflect the raw material costs to make, for example, a single glass bead. The normal and recurring costs are the cost of the glass rods, cost of gas and oxygen to create the proper flame and the expendable tools like mandrels and hole reamers. Wholesale also includes the long term recapture costs of the big equipment or large expense items initially purchased in order for the artist to be able to make any beads at all. There is also routine cost of electrical power, water for cleaning, insurance, storage and various other carrying costs. And of course the artist or the designer needs to be compensated for their time, uniqueness of their designs and the originality of the creations.

Some artists and vendors choose to inflate the basic wholesale price so that they can provide a tickler discount price to you later if you buy a specific dollar amount of product. And unfortunately there are artists who simply want to move their product at any cost and are not concerned about long term survivability in their artistry so they mark down prices so ridiculously low that they lose money with each sale. They are not interested in business operations and eventually they will disappear from the marketplace.
RETAIL:

Retail pricing is price structuring that is random and selective and determined by the specific retailer.

Retailers or storefront operators usually acquire goods for re-sale from wholesalers or distributors. Initially they have the cost of acquisition of the beads, baubles and findings. Retailers also have costs of storefront rent, labor costs of employees, payroll taxes and expenses, insurance, inventory shrinkage, electrical power, building or store upkeep and maintenance and marketing.

Retailers can acquire goods at $1.00 wholesale and have to retail the same item for $1.70 just to breakeven. This reality requires that retail operations buy huge quantities of goods thus using the economy of scale and purchasing power to afford the opportunity to maintain profitable pricing flexibility at the retail cash register and allow the store owner a chance to make a livin.

About our bulk pricing: on our exclusive high polished pewter beads, pendants and buttons and on our heavy gauge Jewelry links. Susie wants everyone to have the chance to use her unique pewter beads, buttons and pendants and links made here in America. To that end we offer a very generous bulk pricing discount which reduces the cost on larger quantities. This is not a price reduction coverting a retail price to a wholesale price but rather it is a willingness on the part of Fire Goddess to extend a portion of our profit margin to you; the store owner, the designer or the client who anticipates using a lot of our pewter or links in your finished creations. It is our sincere hope by passing on a portion of our profits you will order more and continue to intergrate our U.S. made pewter and select jewelry links into your jewelry designs.
