The History of Pewter
Pewter is an amalgam metal or mix of various other metals also referred to as an alloy. The early history dates back to China 2,000 year ago. Tin, the largest element is pewter, was used by the Egyptians as early as 3700 BC. Originally it was made from a composite of lead and tin. Today and with the U.S. influence to eliminate lead in all products, our American Foundry is creating a wonderful pewter product that is considered a semi-precious, jewelry grade metal. Why is Fire Goddess Pewter so Different from all Other Metals?
After many years of designing jewelry and after completely exhausting the use of bali silver beads and the complete line of low grade and poor quality imported beads and embellishments, Susie began desiging her own line of jewelry grade beads, buttons, pendants and embellishments. Years of research and extensive investment into various metals and precious metal alternatives like PMC and polymer clay, Susie discovered U.S. lead-free Jewelry grade Pewter. Our pewter, buttons and embellishments are all hand-made and designed by Susie right here in America. The Pewter comes from American Foundries and, as best we can determine, all the metals are mined here in North American mines. The pewter is guaranteed to be free of any surface lead and contain less than .5% lead mix as part of the amalgam. This very low lead or NO LEAD mix provideds for a rich brautiful silver quality luster. This silver jewelry grade luster is achieved only in our quality of pewter because we add fine silver as part of the mix to our pewter alloy. Our pewter line is uniquely beautiful and vary wearable and also very affordable! Don't settle for that dull look of pewter you see from abroad and other pewter found here in the U.S.or that deminished look of bali silver (which often contain lead and other components that rapidly tarnish or turn the low grade imported silver). Fire Goddess pewter resists traditional tarnishing and will actually batina over time and achieve a beautiful antiqued look.
